Paralume ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our writing coaching platform ("the Service").

Account information When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (if provided), and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. Document content We store the documents you create in the Service, including text content, writing context settings, and version history. This data is necessary to provide the Service and is associated with your account. Usage data We collect anonymized usage analytics (e.g., feature usage, session duration) through PostHog to improve the Service. We do not include document content or personally identifiable information in analytics events. AI processing When you use coaching features, portions of your document text are sent to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini) to generate guidance. This data is sent in real time and is not stored by the AI provider for training purposes.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections, access controls, and regular security reviews.

We use the following third-party services to operate Paralume: • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage • Google Gemini — AI-powered writing coaching (document text is processed but not stored for training) • PostHog — anonymized product analytics (no document content or PII) • Resend — transactional email delivery • Vercel — application hosting and deployment Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We select providers that maintain strong data protection practices.

We take your content privacy seriously. Your document text is sent to AI providers solely to generate coaching suggestions in real time. We do not use your content to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models. Your writing remains yours.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Document version history is limited to the 20 most recent versions per document. If you delete your account, all associated data (documents, profile, versions) is permanently removed within 30 days.

You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you • Correct inaccurate personal data • Delete your account and all associated data • Export your documents (PDF and DOCX formats are available) • Opt out of marketing communications • Request information about how your data is processed You can exercise most of these rights directly through the Settings page. We use a single essential cookie (paralume_access) for access control. We also use browser local storage to save anonymous drafts and user preferences (dark mode, tour progress). We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
